The Floodplain Management Section of the DNR Division of Water invites you to attend “Violations and the NFIP”. This workshop will familiarize the participant with identifying violations, providing notice to property owners, and resolving violations to maintain community compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

When participating in the NFIP, proper ordinance enforcement plays a key part in your community’s role in the program. Proper permitting and violation resolution will assist your community in continued program participation. It also generally means more peace of mind.

Meeting the requirements of your community’s floodplain regulations is key to making your community a safer, more resilient place. It’s even better when an individual or community exceeds the minimum standards, further reducing risk.

These sessions will focus on a more in-depth look at inspecting potential violations, notifying the property owners, meeting with them, and resolving violations.

Local floodplain administrators and other local officials involved in permitting, building, zoning, and local decision-making are strongly encouraged to attend. We hope you can join us for one of the following workshops:

Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. (ET), Nov. 16 & 22 at 2 p.m. (ET) as virtual “Teams” meetings, and Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. ET as a hybrid event. All events will cover the same material and run two hours.

The in-person portion of the hybrid event will be held in conference room 19, Indiana Government Center, South Building Conference Center.

Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs), please note that the workshop information has been submitted to ASFPM for pre-approval for Continuing Education Credits (CECs).

There are no fees for the workshops; however, advance registration is required so that you can be provided the meeting link and call-in number if necessary.
