2019 Conference Keynote Speaker

We are very excited to announce that Gary Belan, the Senior Director - Clean Water Supply with American Rivers in Washington, D.C., will be our Keynote Speaker on Wednesday, September 4th in Fort Wayne!

His presentation “Building Natural Infrastructure - Innovations in the use and funding of natural systems in water management” is a must see!  The changes in climate and weather patterns is having an out-sized effect on water resources. In the face of such a daunting challenge, natural infrastructure can help mitigate the impacts. But using these systems also means looking at new and different ways of funding them.  This presentation will include some outside-the-box ideas to funding natural infrastructure.

Gary oversees a variety of work aimed at improving water management policy in the U.S. for the benefit of people and rivers, accomplishing this through a combination of policy advocacy, stakeholder education and outreach on natural infrastructure, water efficiency and supply, and other water management solutions. He overseas a team of water policy experts that engage in policy advocacy, solution development and stakeholder facilitation to create multi-benefit solutions to water management challenges. Gary has a background in engineering and environmental policy and is a specialist in stormwater management and planning, with particular expertise in green infrastructure.
